Tender, puffy and red gums are manifestations of swollen gums, gums becomes painful when touched and brushing even soft- bristled toothbrush is used. There are a number of factors that causes gums to swell, and commercial toothpastes and mouthwashes is one of them.
Difficulty in biting and eating may be experienced when an individual has a swollen gums, gums becomes painful resulting to inability of chewing foods and savoring it.
Swollen gums should not be disregarded for it may progress to periodontal disease, causing further pain and discomfort for periodontal disease can develop from it when left untreated. However, it can be prevented with proper oral care and dental visits. The dentist is the best person that can help an individual with dental problems, thus regular visits to them are necessary every six months.
